Credit Card PolicyUsing Credit cards with LX2009We are happy for you to join LX using your credit or debit card but we are aware of security issues. We would prefer you to join online using the website where we do not see any of your credit card details. If you join off line we have designed the membership form to allow the bit with your credit card details to be cut off and shredded. This we will do immediately after taking your payment. We take your security seriously. Our more formal policy is below. It was written by Peter Harrow one of our co chairs. He is a lawyer. Credit card policyLX and its Committee shall retain securely all personal data of Members of LX in relation to the payment of Eastercon Membership fees by credit or debit card for the 2009 Eastercon for the duration of its involvement with the 2009 Eastercon until the termination of it's involvement with the 2009 Eastercon upon the occurrence of either the formal closing ceremony of the 2009 Eastercon, or until the withdrawal of LX from the running of Eastercon 2009 has been notified to the Members of LX, and the re-imbursement of Membership fees paid to date undertaken, whichever is the earlier. Upon termination on the involvement of LX in Eastercon 2009, all personal data of Members of LX in relation to the payment of Eastercon Membership fees by credit or debit card shall be destroyed, as s oon as is reasonably practicable. All such personal data will be used by the members of the Committee of LX only for the purposes of payment and/or re-imbursement of Membership fees to Eastercon 2009, and for the purpose of verification that the personal data held is accurate and for no other purpose whatsoever. No personal data of Members of LX in relation to the payment of Eastercon Membership fees by Credit or debit card shall sold, licensed, transmitted, copied, or duplicated in any format to any person who is not a member of the Committee of LX. Access to this personal data will be restricted to the members of the Committee of LX and to those staff members of LX who have been directly authorised in writing by the Treasurer of LX to have access to this personal data, and then only for the purposes of payment, reimbursement or verification as set out above. All Members of Committee and staff members of LX shall ensure that at all times this personal data is held securely and that in the event this personal data is stolen, lost or mislaid that they shall notify the members of the Committee of LX as to this circumstance as soon as is reasonably practicable, and the members of the Committee of LX shall take all reasonable steps to inform the Members of LX as to this circumstance as soon as is reasonably practicable and to cooperate with all relevant statutory and financial bodies to mitigate the effects of this circumstance to the individual Members of LX.
